I have often found God’s word to be most meaningful and encouraging when I feel lost or helpless. It has been a reminder of His goodness, His promises, His strength. It’s an encouragement that the battle is won, that He is by my side, and that He is a powerful God.
A few years ago, when my marriage was in crisis and I was losing support from my church, I was grieving and felt pretty helpless. But I remember being so thankful that outside of the church building, God was still God, and I could lean into Him.
Have you had those days, friend? Maybe you’re in the midst of them as you read this. If that’s the case, I want to share a few scriptures with you that were so meaningful to me at that time. And I don’t know that they will change your crisis, but I do hope they will be sweet reminders of the hands that are holding you in your crisis.
He will see you through this
1 Thessalonians 5:24 “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Isaiah 43:19 “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
Philippians 1:6 “…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Psalm 55:22 “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
Romans 8:18 “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”
Joshua 1:9 “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
He is protecting you
Psalm 62:2 “Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
Isaiah 45:2 “I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.”
Psalms 18:19 “He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.”
Micah 7:8 “Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.”
He is a good God, He is for you
Psalm 34:4-5 “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”
Psalm 33:20-22 “We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”
Isaiah 54:10 “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”
1 Corinthians 13:6-7 “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Psalm 61:2 “From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
