In an Instant—Everything Changed.

I was taking a walk on the beach trying to figure out a way to provide for my family. I had homeschooled my children for 8 years and I had left my marketing career behind. I was in the middle of a divorce and I had no idea what to do next, so I sat down to pray. I felt God lead me to Proverbs 31 and wondered what in the world he could be leading me toward. As I read Proverbs 31:8-9, my heart leaped out of my chest. “Speak up for those who have no voice, for the justice of all who are dispossessed. Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the oppressed and needy.” This wasn’t an option, it was a calling. An unshakable feeling down to the very last cell in my body that I had to share my passion for God's justice and love for the hurting. I had no idea, in that moment, that my life would change forever. Or even more shockingly, just how much it would change…

I reached out to my friend Kyla to tell her that I wanted to start a support group. It felt like a doable way to follow God's call in a stage of life filled with gigantic changes. She had been a therapist that advocated for women for years and I knew she would be the perfect person to work with. We made a date to get the details figured out. She came over to my virtually empty house (it had been sitting on the market for months and I was following every HGTV tip for home staging and "decluttering") and our voices echoed as we huddled over a laptop. Suddenly, Kyla said, "Let's go into business together!" I looked at her, a little shocked. The words continued to spill out of her. "You could get certified for coaching and I will do therapy and we'll be able to help so many women together!" And that's exactly what we did.

I went from feeling stuck in an impossible situation to a woman on a mission. I did my coaching classes virtually as my kids played under my feet and after I tucked them into bed at night. My training continued as I spent a year digging into abuse and recovery in the faith community so that I could amass tools, resources, and understanding. Kyla and I ran those support groups and one-on-one sessions and slowly but surely, we built a practice with healing at the very heart of it.

Together, we have helped hundreds of women regain their voices and advocate for themselves. We've watched them come to us feeling spent and hopeless and leave each session with their heads lifted just a little higher. You see, our passion is for you. For your heart and your healing. We'll continue to develop and share resources to remind you that you are not alone on your journey.

So tell me, what would be most helpful to you? What would take you to the next step on your path to healing? Email me and let me know. We are praying for you!
